Not long ago we had reported that LinkedIn reached 100 million users worldwide. It is now reported that the professional network now has over 10 million Indian professional who use the platform regularly. LinkedIn was introduced in India in the year 2009, with it’s office setting up in Mumbai.
LinkedIn India had also established a leadership team to drive the company’s Marketing Solution and Corporate Solution Businesses. Recently LinkedIn had launched a product called LinkedIn Today so that professional can be aware of what other professional are reading and sharing on the platform. Slowly and steadily LinkedIn released a new customized plugin aiming to provide an environment to provide professional growth. Indian professionals are making use of LinkedIn in various ways to leverage their reputation and build stronger visibility. Some of the ways professionals are making use of LinkedIn are engaging themselves in polls, groups, answers, etc.
Some of the interesting facts of LinkedIn in India are:
- Top 10 industries on LinkedIn are Information Technology and Services, Computer Software, Telecommunications, Financial Services, Education Management, Banking, Automotive, Pharmaceutical, Electronics and Accounting.
- 16105 professionals listed the term ‘social media’ in their profile.
- 4% members in India put the term ‘owner’ in their profile.
Thanks to the rapid growth of mobile phones and readily accessing web via handset, LinkedIn also tied up with Snaptu to offer app for feature phones. The Corporate solution of LinkedIn have helped blue chip companies like ING Vysya Bank, Genpact, HCL in recruiting quality talent for the companies.
Yes, it is true the professional network have crossed milestone like having 100 million subscribers worldwide but there are still some errors LinkedIn holds. Errors like that one we reported about the security vulnerability where the hacker gain control over other accounts without having access to relevant password. In response to this news LinkedIn said to roll out an opt-in always-use-HTTPS feature for users to combat hackers. With such high value professional data available its only time that Linkedin becomes the most valuable network on the web. With its recent IPO it has already made an attempt and scaling to bigger better opportunities in the days ahead.
