As I'm sure no one has noticed, I haven't blogged for quite a while. This has been because my time has largely been taken up by preparing for my many manifestations of evil, in other words, my exams. I've had 10 so far and my performance on them has ranged from quite good to... abhorrent. My lack of reading and page turning skills have meant that I've surely failed both my Biology and English Literature exam. I still can't believe I missed a whole double-page of questions!! I was also told they were really easy as well, and it was worth a total of 15% of the paper... And in my English exam, I mistook the question to be "Describe a scene in the summer or winter" when it actually asked "Describe a scene in the summer and winter"!
However, on the plus side, I only have 4 exams left and I have a whole week free until my next one.
This stress has also been coupled with the pressure my mum likes to give me. Yesterday, she asked, "Did you know, Joanna got 8 A*s and 4 As for her GCSEs?". (Joanna is a year older than me and she is the daughter of one of my mum's close friends). I asked her why she was telling me this, and she had no reservations in saying, "to put pressure on you". Why? Just why?! I can sufficiently self-motivate by myself thank you very much. Does she honestly think I'm that competitive? That my only motivation to do well is by trying to do better than someone else? If my results were 7 A*s and 5 As, I would be on cloud 9, (located just over the moon). Of course I wouldn't care that Joanna had got more impressive grades than me.
Anyway, the exams I have got left are: ICT, Geography, German Listening and German Reading. All comparatively relaxed exams, apart from Geography. In fact, I can't really see myself revising much for the ICT and German exams but who knows, maybe my competitive motivation to do better than Joanna will get the better of me!
